During the earliest days of training camp this season, coach Jeff Fisher told reporters he liked Cory Harkey as a tight end prospect. Fisher liked him enough this week to promote him to the active roster from the practice squad.
The undrafted rookie from UCLA fills the roster spot created by last Saturday’s release of defensive tackle Kellen Heard.
“I’m super excited,” Harkey said. “This is something I’ve obviously been waiting for, and working my butt off. My whole thing is just to keep improving every day... read more

STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
LONDON — Things are moving quickly for Sam Bradford and the St. Louis Rams as they deal with a change of continents and time zones.
Now their bodies just have to catch up in time for the annual NFL game in London on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
The Rams arrived at Heathrow airport early Tuesday morning, and a few hours later they were on a wet field in Regents Park in central London doing drills with about 500 local school children to show off the American version of football.
"I think everyone was a little bit tired on the bus ride here," Bradford said, "but that's why we got here so early in the week so that we could acclimate ourselves to the jet lag and get accustomed to the time difference... read more

The veteran Rams wideout went down with an apparent shoulder injury.
St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola has left tonight's game with the Arizona Cardinals with an apparent shoulder injury. The veteran wideout was injured on an incomplete pass on third and 5 with eight minutes left to play in the second quarter. Trainers quickly took him to the locker room. The pass had originally ruled complete, but was overturned on replay. Amendola lookled to be in pain, but more annoyed at the fact that the catch had been nullified... read more

St. Louis Rams tight end Mike McNeill, left, congratulates teammate Austin Pettis on his 14-yard touchdown catch during the first quarter of a preseason NFL football game against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, in St. Louis.
ST. LOUIS Sure, they were going against backups. The St. Louis Rams were just glad to finish the preseason on a positive note.
Sam Bradford threw three touchdown passes in 1 1/2 quarters and the defense forced four turnovers in a 31-17 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, who rested most of their regulars as they gear up for a Super Bowl run... read more

It wasn’t as close as the score would indicate. When both teams had their starters on the field, the Cowboys dominated the Rams. Tony Romo looked like Dan Marino. Sam Bradford looked like Marc Bulger. The 2007-09 version. Only less accurate. On defense…well…I hope Jeff Fisher keeps a box of Snickers bars on the sidelines because we had a lot of Betty Whites out there. On that note, let’s look at the good, the bad and the Spagnuolo from week three of the preseason.

Center Scott Wells, who played with the Green Bay Packers from 2004 through 2011 and now has a new home with the St. Louis Rams, spent part of his offseason insuring that three Ugandan children had a new home of their own, as well. Wells and wife Julie, who have three biological children, started to really feel the imperative to adopt in recent years, and an interesting set of circumstances took them to Africa to add to their family.
From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

The final days before the NFL draft are always rife with smokescreens, misdirection and sleight of hand. Two rules of thumb apply:• Don't believe anything you see or hear.
• Don't discount anything you see or hear.
With that in mind came speculative reports earlier in the week that:

With the general manager search now concluded, coach Jeff Fisher is putting some finishing touches on his first Rams coaching staff.
Chuck Cecil, a longtime assistant under Fisher with the Tennessee Titans and a former Pro Bowl safety as a player, will become the team's secondary coach, according to league sources. Given Cecil's playing and coaching style, suffice to say he will not be teaching finesse football.
During seven seasons as an NFL player for Green Bay, Arizona and the Houston Oilers, Cecil had a reputation as one of the game's biggest hitters — and then some... read more
