NBA Finals: Game 1 Recap --- WHO WILL WIN GAME 2 ?

Written by Pro Sport Talk Staff

Hollywood couldn’t have written it any better. There’s our hero. Be it Rocky, John McClain, a random Will Smith character, whoever. They’re being beaten. Being whooped up on. But they never give up.

That’s exactly what Kevin Durant and the Thunder did tonight....

Thunder's next challenge: Brooks' contract - TrueHoop Blog - ESPN

June, 22, 2012

Jun 22 5:07 AM ET By Marc SteinESPN.com You hear so much about the futures of James Harden and Serge Ibaka in Oklahoma City and the difficulties looming for the small-market Thunder to be able to afford keeping those two in the same core headlined by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Frequently forgotten, amid all the fretting, is the fact that the Thunder have to sort out their coaching situation before they even get to Harden or Ibaka or filling some of the other holes on the roster. Scotty Brooks' contract as OKC coach ends when June ends. The widespread assumption persists that Brooks and the Thunder will hammer out a new deal now that they no longer have a deep playoff run to manage, but sources close to the process continue to caution that A) extension talks have been slow-moving for weeks now and B) concern is rising within the organization that the sides are not nearly as destined to reach an agreement as everyone else around the league presumes... read more

Poor execution late in the game, excessive turnovers, missed free throws -- all the stuff they thought they'd left behind the way they did the Mavericks and the Lakers and the Spurs -- resurfaced at this critical junction, leading to a 91-85 defeat that put the Thunder two games away from losing this series to the Miami Heat, with two games still to play in Miami... read more

NBA Finals -- Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant's motivation? - ESPN

What's Kevin Durant's motivation?

Legacy of Oklahoma City Thunder's star taking shape without any clear objective Updated: June 13, 2012, 1:25 PM ET By J.A. Adande | ESPN.com   Mark J. Rebilas/US PresswireAt 23, Kevin Durant is already one of the best players in the league. Just how good can he be?

The one thing Kevin Durant lacks is a means of defining himself, of setting the parameters for which he should be described. It's always a generic "better." He wants to ascend to huge heights, but he's never named a specific mountain he desires to scale.

When Kobe Bryant entered the NBA, it was clear that Michael Jordan was both his template and target... read more

Kevin Durant didn't embarrass LeBron James on Tuesday night. But the Oklahoma City superstar did show his Miami counterpart how it's done in the NBA Finals -- particularly in the fourth quarter -- as the Thunder claimed a 105-94 victory in Game 1.

In his first NBA Finals appearance, Durant finished with 36 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter -- numbers James has yet to match in 11 career NBA Finals games... read more

Almost 40 points, almost no drama - TrueHoop Blog - ESPN

June, 13, 2012 Jun 13 1:58 AM ET By Henry AbbottESPN.com Garrett Ellwood/NBAE/Getty The best scorer in the NBA might also be the least dramatic. The Game 1 stat sheet says Kevin Durant scored 36 points, including 17 in the fourth. A 17-point quarter is a 68-point pace for an entire game. And yet, if I'm honest, if there were no stat sheet, I'd have guessed Durant had about 25 for the game. That's how it goes when I watch the NBA's best scorer. He always has more points than I think he does. Every time I notice him on offense, he's doing something professional, unfussy and slick... read more

Oklahoma City one step away

By Jeff Latzke

Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY - When the Oklahoma City Thunder signed five-time champion Derek Fisher late in the season, they added a veteran guard with oodles more NBA Finals experience than the rest of the roster he was joining.

Whether Fisher can prepare his Thunder teammates for what they’re about to face is another matter.

While the Miami Heat are returning for the second straight season, it’ll be an eye-opening, first-time experience for most of Oklahoma City’s youthful players. Only Fisher, starting center Kendrick Perkins, and backup Nazr Mohammed have ever made it this far - all winning titles with other teams... read more

OKC Thunder Roar Past Lakers, Celtics Lead 76ers

Published May 22, 2012

Fox News Latino

The mighty Lakers have fallen.

Russell Westbrook scored 28 points, Kevin Durant added 25 points and 10 rebounds, and the Oklahoma City Thunder surged ahead in the second half to beat Los Angeles 106-90 in Game 5 on Monday night and eliminate the Lakers from the playoffs.

The two All-Stars both bypassed their breaks in the second half and used the time they'd normally be resting to fuel the big run that put away the game and end the Lakers' season.

Westbrook had a pair of three-point plays during a 14-3 burst that put Oklahoma City ahead to stay late in the third quarter, and Durant hit two 3-pointers as the Thunder scored the first 10 points of the fourth to push their lead to 93-77... read more

NBA Playoffs 2012: Can Any Team Stop the Oklahoma City Thunder?

by Danny Webster

We all know how good the Oklahoma City Thunder are when they score a high number of points. That's one of the big reasons why they haven't lost a single game in this year's NBA playoffs.

So what does it say about them when they win a game by only scoring 77 points?

Even though the point total isn't a lot, it tells you a great deal of how good this young team truly is.

After an Andrew Bynum hook shot gave the Los Angeles Lakers a 75-68 lead with over two minutes remaining, the Thunder began another epic playoff comeback with Kevin Durant and James Harden leading the way by attacking the basket and driving to the rim with ease... read more

First Round Foe?

Oklahoma City Thunder: Who will be first-round foe? Posted by Berry Tramel on April 18, 2012M at 5:00 pm

The NBA regular season is a week away from completion, so while we don’t know in which slot the Thunder will finish, we can narrow it down. The Thunder will be the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the West, which means a first-round matchup against one of five teams:Denver,Dallas,Phoenix,HoustonorUtah.

For the record, most pundits predict the following order of finish for those five teams:Dallas,Denver,Utah, then eitherPhoenixorHouston. That would pit the second-seeded Thunder againstDenver, or the top-seeded Thunder againstUtah... read more

Thunder make NBA history in OT win

By ESPN Stats & InfoESPN.com

In one of the most entertaining games of the season, the Oklahoma City Thunder got an unprecedented performance to beat the Denver Nuggets 124-118 in overtime. Kevin Durant scored a career-high 51 points, the most any player has scored in a game this season.

Russell Westbrook added a season-high 40 points, making Durant and Westbrook just the third pair of teammates in NBA history with a 50-point game and a 40-point game in the same game, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Don’t forget about Serge Ibaka, who had his first career triple-double with 14 points, 14 rebounds and a Thunder/SuperSonics-record 11 blocked shots... read more
