DJCT's '95B's, Brendan Kennedy & Nick Tyrpak, along with '95G Maggie Barnes all signed recently to play college soccer for the Fall 2013 season.
Brendan signed to play with D3 national power, Trinity University (San Antonio, TX), and Coach Paul McGinlay, while Nick signed to play for Our Lady of the Lake University (NAIA, San Antonio, TX) and for Coach Shane Hurley. Maggie will play close to home, signing with St. Edward's University (NCAA DII, Austin, TX) to play for Coach Nick Cowell. Congrats to all three DJCT players! Kelsey Hood has been hired as the women's assistant coach for Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside, CA. CSMB competes at the NCAA Division II level and plays in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Kelsey has been on DJCT staff for the past year and was the head coach of the 95G. The former Big 10 Defensive Player of Year will be leaving for California in mid April. DJCT would like to congratulate Kelsey on her hiring and thank her for all efforts for DJCT.

NEW YORK -- Major League Soccer is sending its youth academy coaches to study abroad.
Personnel from teams in North America's top pro league will visit France's national training center in Clairefontaine. Coaches from the French soccer federation will teach the same player development skills they use at the club level there. Material from MLS, as well as the U.S. and Canadian federations, will also be in the curriculum.

The first-ever Houston Dynamo Women's College Showcase is set for this weekend, Feb. 23-24, in Houston, TX at the Houston Amateur Sports Park (HASP). Houston Dynamo Juniors' affiliate clubs along with selected clubs from the Houston area make up the field of teams for the event. The showcase format has teams in the U14 ('99), U15 ('98) and U17/U18 ('96/'95) age groups with each team playing one full-length match per day (Saturday-Sunday). DJCT's 99G, N-99G, 98G and 95G will travel to Houston to participate.

The Houston Dynamo have announced Dynamo Juniors weekend will take place Aug. 2-4, 2013 in Houston, TX. Dynamo Juniors affiliates will compete against each other in a tournament-setting and watch the MLS Houston Dynamo vs. Columbus Crew match on Aug. 3 @ 8:00pm.
The ever-expanding Dynamo Juniors program already has established programs in El Paso, Texas; McAllen, Texas; Austin, Texas; Lafayette, Louisiana; Gulf Breeze, Florida; Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; and Tampa, Florida.

DJCT's N-'01B and '02G teams both captured 1st place at the Texans Elite Invitational Tournament over the Feb. 16-17 weekend in Round Rock, TX. The S-02G finished in 2nd place, falling in the championship match to TSC Hurricanes (OK).
The N-'01B finished with a 3-0-1 overall record in the top flight, beating Chivas Houston, Hutto Gunners & Shrevport United, out-scoring their opponents 15-2.

Although still in its infancy, the Houston Dynamo Academy, presented by Statoil, has borne fruit that has had a positive impact on the Dynamo first team.
Since its establishment in 2007, four Academy players have signed homegrown contracts with the first team. Although it is difficult for a young player to break through with any professional program, Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear said there are opportunities for young players to get first team exposure prior to signing a contract.

DJCT would like to announce the U9/U10 Jr. Academy Spring 2013 Observation/Team Formation Dates for all interested players wanting to play DJCT Jr. Academy for the Spring 2013 season. The 99B and 96G finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, at the STYSA President's Cup State Championships over the May 19-20 weekend in San Marcos, TX. The 99B lost 2-0 to the Dynamo Juniors (McAllen) in the all-Dynamo affiliate final. The DJCT 98B concluded their Spring 2012 league campaign undefeated and captured the USYS National Cup Western District title, advancing to the USYS State Cup May 26-28 in Houston, TX.
The 98B completed their Fall 2011 season undefeated as well to complete a full year without a league loss. Earlier this Spring, the U14's topped their South Texas Classic League (SCL) qualifying group undefeated, getting promoted to SCL play for Fall 2012.

Three '99 birth year DJCT players, Kyle M., Luke T. and Marcello M., guest played with our affiliated Houston Dynamo STX Juniors '99 team (based in McAllen) at the Dallas Cup this past week, in one of the top youth soccer events in the world.
The Dallas Cup, which is the oldest international youth soccer tournament in the United States and celebrates its 33rd year this year, pitted the Dynamo STX Juniors '99's against Club Universidad Nacional (Mexico), Crewe Alexandra (England) and Nomads Academy (California). Congratulations to our DJCT players who were selected for the 2012 South Texas Olympic Development Program (ODP) State Team in their respective age group. These players will represent South Texas ODP at the Region III ODP Camp this July. The boys will attend camp at the University of Alabama and the girls at the University of Montevallo (AL). The S. Texas state teams will have five days of games and training against other Region III state teams. Players will be looking to get selected to the Region III ODP pool.

DJCT's 98B and 97B teams continued their impressive first seasons as both the U14's and U15's finished undefeated and won their respective groups for the Fall 2012 South Texas Classic League (SCL) qualifying in Houston March 24-25. The 1st place finish places the two teams in the Fall 2012 SCL level of play, which is a league comprised of the top 6+ teams from all of South Texas Youth Soccer and sits above the local Division I leagues.

DJCT 94 Boys player Devin Fontenot has committed to play soccer at Trinity University in San Antonio starting in the fall of 2012. The Trinity University Tigers are a perennial national power in NCAA Division III winning the SCAC Championship 14 of the last 16 years and reaching the NCAA Tournament 15 of the last 16 years. Coached by Paul McGinlay, Trinity has made three final four appearances winning the national championship in 2003 and finishing as runners up in 2007. DJCT 94B player Austin Doyle has committed to play college soccer at the University of Texas-Tyler starting in the Fall 2012 season. The Patriots are coming off one of their best seasons ever as they advanced to the NCAA Elite 8 in the DIII playoffs in 2011. UT-Tyler, coached by Kenny Jones, finished with a 18-3-2 overall record and a 10-1-1 record in the ASC. The Patriots won the conference's regular season championship as well as the ASC tournament at year's end. The DJCT 99B team came in 2nd place at the Dynamos Puma Cup in Houston over the Feb. 11-12th weekend. The team breezed through group play with a 3-0 record, outscoring their opponents 13-2 in the 3 matches. The ‘99’s beat a pair of Houstonian teams as they bested the ’00 Red Houstonians 4-1 and the ’00 Houstonians 3-1.
The team played its’ best game against the host club’s Dynamos U13B Gold team, topping them 6-0 in advancing to the final. In the final, DJCT fell 3-0 to the Houston Texans 99B East team.

The DJCT 95/94 combined boys team attended the 12th Annual Texas Blue Chip College Showcase event February 4-5 in Houston. Over 90 College & University coaches representing NCAA DIV I, II, III, & NAIA programs from across the country were in attendance throughout the entire weekend. The team played extremely well in their Saturday game versus the Quest United 94 team in an unfortunate 1-0 loss. The Dynamo combined 95/94 team dominated play and created substantially more chances, but came up against a very good keeper who managed to keep them from scoring. Corey Holton, head women's soccer coach at Concordia University and staff coach for Dynamo Juniors of Central Texas, was named Coach of the Year for the American Southwest Conference (ASC). Holton's honors came during her third season where she led the Tornados to their best season in school history. The DJCT 96B team wrapped up their Fall 2011 WDDOA season with adramatic 3-2 come-from-behind victory against the Red Wings to securea 2nd place finish in the DI standings and a place in the Spring 2012USYS National Cup.The U16’s went into their last game tied in the standings with the RedWings and found themselves down 2-0 at halftime. A tie would see theRed Wings secure the 2nd spot based on goal differential, so a victorywas the only way to finish in the top two. The 96’s went on to scorethree goals in the 2nd half to finish the Fall campaign with a 6-1-1overall mark.

DJCT 96G won both of their showcase games in the Sports Source Showcase played in Dallas on Dec 3rd and 4th, 2011. They won 3 to 1 in both games against very solid competition!
Fall 2011 Season they also:

Had a record of 6W 1L 1T in regular DI play (scored 17 goals and allowed only 4)
Kaitlyn Joy led the team in stats scoring 8 goals and 7 assists in regular season play!
