Track & Field Completes Day 1 of Saluki Open

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Saluki track and field took one event title on Friday at day one of the unscored Saluki Open at the SIU Recreation Center.

Of the three field events completed on day one -- the weight throw, long jump and pole vault -- Southern took the men's pole vault for its first title of the meet. Sophomore Alex Lietz set a personal best in the pole vault at 4.60m, which propelled him to the win over second-place finisher, Saluki sophomore

2013 Long term goals: B standards or close to B standards in the 100 & 200m. National standard in 400m and get down to 60 seconds as close as possible. Close to national standard in 800m As many pbs as possible. Top 5 or podium in 200m at Canada Games. Top 5 in 400m and 1500m at Canada Games. Stay in the pack as long as possible in the 1500m at Canada Games. Improve technique. Hit over 30km/hr on out door track. Hit 40 or close to it on flat road. Keep positive.
