For Cardinal fans starving for any morsels of news, the buffet that was Thursday's activity was a delight. Jason Motte probably said it best. After seeing all the pitchers in camp, he quipped, "It feels like we started today."
If you were following Derrick Goold's Twitter feed, you saw pictures and videos of the workouts that were going on and it was glorious. All five of the starters are in camp and, as indicated by Motte, some of the bullpen as well. The coaching staff was there. Folks, it may not be official, but baseball is back... read moreComments

I wasn't sure that anything could overshadow Adam Wainwright getting back on the mound, but Yadier Molinagiving a good interview about the past, present and future pretty much did it.
Molina, as will be pointed out numerous times this spring, is in the same position that his good friend Albert Pujols was in--a homegrown veteran and pillar of the clubhouse in the last year of his contract and potentially heading toward free agency. While there are obvious differences relating to the scope and impact of that situation, the rough outlines are the same... read moreComments

I recognized it weeks ago. During Missouri’s 76-69 win at Iowa State on Jan. 11, I could see the camaraderie from press row. The Tigers, engaged in a tougher-than-anticipated matchup against the Cyclones and seeking to erase the memory of a recent loss at Kansas State, demanded more from one another. During one second-half timeout, Michael Dixon stormed to the sideline and spewed profanity as if he’d just watched Eddie Murphy’s “Raw.” But it wasn’t anger. It was motivation. BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox, looking to free up money to pursue either starting pitcher Roy Oswalt or outfielder Cody Ross, have traded shortstop Marco Scutaro to the Colorado Rockies.
The Red Sox received right-handed pitcher Clayton Mortensen in return. Mortensen, 26, is a former first-round sandwich pick in 2007 by St. Louis, who sent Mortensen to Oakland in the deal for outfielder Matt Holliday. The Rockies acquired Mortensen for a minor league player last January; the Red Sox become his fourth big league organization.
